Decision Day: Alex Collins

It’s decision day for Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) South Plantation five-star Alex Collins, the nation’s No. 1 running back.

Alex Collins is ranked the No. 17 overall prospect.

Will it be Arkansas, Florida, Florida State, Miami or Wisconsin?

Collins will reveal his decision today at 9 p.m. Central on Fox Sports South.

Read on for a few predictions from national and team recruiting analysts in the 247Sports network:

Nate Adelson, InsideTheU.com
Prediction: Miami
“I think for him to leave home, it would have to be for more of a sure thing. Arkansas had their fair share of problems in 2012. It will take a little time before they get it rolling again.”

Evan Flood, Badger247
Prediction: Miami
“I think Arkansas and Miami have separated themselves just ahead of Wisconsin. At this point, I think he returns to the Hurricanes. I think he’s most comfortable at Miami and can stay closer to home. Although Bret Bielema and Charlie Partridge have that solid connection with Collins, I don’t get the feeling that it will be enough, and I don’t believe Collins is enamored with playing in the SEC like a lot of recruits. It’s been a crazy recruitment for Collins, but Miami hasn’t really changed and have recruited him the hardest. Despite the looming NCAA sanctions, I think he’ll still take the risk.”

Otis Kirk, Hawgs247
Prediction: Miami
“It would mean a lot to the Razorbacks to be able to add him to the commitment list, but I just think this may be like the Dorial Green-Beckham saga. In the end, DGB chose to stay home and play for the home-state school. I think Collins will choose to stay close to home.”
EDITOR'S NOTE After this article was published, Kirk changed his prediction to Arkansas.

Chris Nee, Noles247 and 247Sports
Prediction: Arkansas
“Relationships have been key in Collins’ recruitment, and I think at the end of the day that is a big reason Arkansas wins out over Miami. Collins is very close to Coach Bret Bielema and Charlie Partridge on the Arkansas staff. I also believe Arkansas’ need at running back proves to be a great opportunity that Collins cannot turn down.”

Josh Newberg, Noles247
Prediction: Arkansas
“It’s clear throughout his recruitment that Collins’ decision will come down to relationships. Bret Bielema and Charlie Partridge had a solid relationship with Collins while at Wisconsin, and that has only grown stronger now that they are at Arkansas. That will be the deciding factor when Collins announces today.”

Keith Niebuhr, 247Sports
Prediction: Miami
“It just seems to be a good fit. The Canes need a versatile back, and Collins can stay close to home. It’s the dream of many kids in south Florida to play for Miami, and that is something that can’t be overlooked. Right now many of those kids are hoping to be among those that lead that program back to the promised land. By all indications, Arkansas put up a serious fight, and that’s a real credit to the staff and people around that program. But in the end, I like him ending up in Coral Gables.”

Barton Simmons, 247Sports
Prediction: Miami
“Give me the home team in this race. I could realistically see Collins committing to either Arkansas or Miami, and I think Bret Bielema and his staff have done an outstanding job of recruiting Collins. But the familiarity with the Miami program gives them the slight edge in a tight race from where I stand.”

Luke Stampini, GatorBait.net
Prediction: Miami
“Collins gave other schools a look after originally de-committing from Miami, and Arkansas made this an extremely tight race. The Hurricanes were the program his mother preferred, and at the end of the day, I think that reason along with it being the local school are enough to get his signature.”

Robert Turbeville, Hawgs247
Prediction: Arkansas
“There’s obvious pressure to stay close to home, and it’s clear Collins has a lot of love for the Hurricanes. But Collins marches to the beat of a different drum. The relationships he’s developed with Bret Bielema and Charlie Partridge and the opportunities at Arkansas will ultimately make the difference.”
