Shutting down Stephen Strasburg in a pennant race? Dumbest idea ever. Or, a very smart call by a franchise with a very bright future. Gregg Doyel says there's really no gray here, but if it were him, he'd do the same.
I would limit his innings but not shut him down completely. Maybe an in-game pitch count then pull him. Give him the choice to lay it all on the line in October.
Haven't kept up a lot with his injuries....but would consider pitching him every 5th day with a strict pitch count....something in the 60-75 pitch range with instructions for him to shut in down at any time if he doesn't feel right.
Id shut him down till everything is in the clear. He is way to good to ruin his career and the money they have in him.. He is one of the best pitchers in baseball when healthy and they can still win with Zimmerman, Harper, and LaRoche hitting like they are. Also Gio G. is a darn good pitcher hes 13-5
