  • Tommy Tuberville angers recruits, families and powerful Ohio HS

Tommy Tuberville is having a hard time making friends as the new coach at Cincinnati.

  • Yep.... "relationships" are the foundation to every schools recruiting efforts.

You pi** off a HS HC you better believe they can and will make sure you know about it one way or another.

I want to say that happened with Nutt towards the end but I can't remember who/what school it was.

Nutt was at Ole Miss when he got crossways with the kid from Newport. That was an out of state kid. Not any different than what Petrino did with Jared Singletary 2-3 weeks before National Signing Day or the kid from Joplin. Bret has dropped some kids, but they are out of state kids. Not saying it is right or wrong on out of state kids, but what I am saying is it is different than burning bridges in your own state.

For some reason though I want to say there was an AR coach that did it to..too much water under the bridge flooding my memory.

Yeah BP did himself no favors either that's for sure. Horton was one guy that was able sway the instate guys that did come. If BP were still here though we'd be without Henry with no shot at TenPen. Which was my point yesterday about not taking your instate HS's for granted.

Also caught some heat for what happened with Claude Johnson out of PB.

I think Nutt was with Hembree at Warren. For the early 2000s, Hembree send his players elsewhere i.e Bret Smith to Tennessee.. It took, I think coach Thompson, to get him to get the Warren 3 that just graduated the year before last to get Nutt to go visit and clear up everything up with whatever he had with Hembree. Because Nutt wasn't even going to offer them before Thompson got on the staff and was like "idiot, there's a bunch of guys down in Warren that are good enough to play and we need them." I dont know exactly Nutt did, but that is what I've heard around.

David Lee got those kids at Warren. He's who bridged the gap there.

  • Nutt offered Reid McKinney the QB that was there the same year as Brett smith. Not sure why he pulled his offer but Reid wasnt SEC caliber anyways. I met a girl in college that went to Warren(I'm one year younger than Smith & McKinney) she said Phil Fulmer was so much nicer and talked to everyone that was there not just the football plAyers she acted like he was one of the nicest guys she had ever met.

He never offered Reid McKinney. Danny Nutt always told kids we want you at Arkansas like many other coaches tell kids they want them at their school. Someone close to McKinney, I'm not going to name any names and start that pissing war again, but someone close to McKinney took that as an offer. No offer was ever made to that kid.

Yeah but once again when you are a QB and you get an offer and the school is only going to take one then you better take it if you want it. QB is the worse position for kids offers to get jerked. Basically every school has a number they are going to take at QB and once that slot or slots is filled you are out of luck. A big deal got made out of that because of Nutt at Ole miss, but that stuff happens to many kids each year.
