Text from Horton to Ark High Schools

  • Just thought I'd pass this along. Tim Horton blasted the text below to Arkansas High School coaches tonight. I suspect he and Gus will be a constant thorn in CBB's side. Wish CBB had found a place on his staff for one Arkansas guy. Hired what, 4 guys who are South FL guys? Seems like one Arkansas guy might have been a good idea.

    Here's the text:

  • If Auburn wants to spend a whole lot of time in Arkansas recruiting let them. I would rather them recruit here than in the place s they should be. There's not enough talent in this state to pull Auburn out of the crap hole Chizik and yes the Almighty Gus have them in.

    Really don't know I feel about this one... TH was an ok RB Coach but a great recruiter.. I hate the fact AU has another influence in Arkansas...

  • Administrative and not as a position coach (offered as a saving face thing). CBB didn't want him. Anyone who says different is part of Team Horton and buddies with him (Horton funneled a lot of private internal info to the media- I would miss him to if I was his pal in the media). The spin is mind blowing.

    Believe what you want, but try to put objective glasses on and look through the motives/agenda.

    Good luck to him, but it is time Arkansas totally eliminates the GOB system once and for all. The future is bright.

    Well that is his job now. I don't know what people expect. He is going to come after every instate really recruit now because that's his territory.

  • Tim was offered TE job and a raise not an administration. Not sure where you got that info but there are other things involved besides money and job title. Everything has to be on the same page.

  • Tim was never offered any coaching position. CBB found out what everyone else knew, Tim wasn't a good position coach. He does great PR like his daddy which compensates for his lack of coaching skills. Not a bad guy, but not a saint like some are making him out to be. Plus there are more than a few hs coaches who don't care for him.

    My source is as close as you can get on this. I'm a newbie here, so I don't expect anyone to believe me which is fine. I know the truth.

    Admin positions can be added at any time for anything. A made up position. Doesn't even have to be football related. Bottomline is Bret did not want the guy.

    Not going to debate it anymore. I said what I know and people can believe what they want. I just wanted to ask people to look past the apparent agendas of some people.

  • I don't believe there is a limit on admin roles, is there? I've always been under the impression that that is what separates the elite schools from everyone else. Those are the guys that have massive support staffs. I seem to remember reading once that Alabama had significantly more people helping out behind the scenes than us.

    Director of High School Relations
    Director of On-Campus Recruiting/Eligibility. Coordinator
    Director of Football Operations

    Alabama had:

    Associate Athletics Director/Football
    Assistant Director/Football Operations
    Director of Player Personnel
    Assistant Director of Player Personnel
    Director of Player Development
    Director of Player Development
    Recruiting Operations Coordinator

    And that's not even counting the 8 "football analysts" they have on their support staff. I couldn't find any record of if we have anyone in that type of role.

    Ok we will see if we hire anyone in another role, then and I seriously doubt we do. Otis Kirk has told you guys he was offered the job and a raise. If you think he would get a raise in an admin role then I have nothing else to say. If Taver Johnson took a 25k pay cut and stayed on the field do you really believe Tim Horton was offered a raise to get off the field?
