Ross Rasner isn't a safety

  • He doesn't turn around and look for the ball. Last night could have had two more ints but he doesn't know how to turn his head. Why do we suck so bad in the secondary, linebackers, and DL?

I'm sorry but trey flowers had QB in the backfield all night and couldn't bring him down. We let the QB just scramble around like it was flag football. He looked better than

I said in pre-season that if Rasner was our safety, get ready to see the back of his jersey all day long against Bama because they would burn him relentlessly based on his lack of speed for a safety. Guess I was a week late on my prediction.

  • Tank should be at defensive end & Rasner should be at the hybrid outside linebacker spot. With those guys in their present positions we can't cover the needed real estate. Again, I do not blame them. They are being asked to do things they cannot do. Not their fault!

  • Yeah I said that tank wasn't a MLB after watching him last week he's not fast enough. He can't run sideline to sideline and can't cover anything over the middle no matter if its short or a seam route.

And just so everyone knows, it is not Ross or Tank's fault that they are failing at those positions. They just aren't physically equipped to play the position that the coaches have put them in. This is the coaches fault for not having recruited well enough to have someone at Safety who is a safety and someone at LB who is a LB.

Put Tank back at DE and Rasner at Star, their replacements cannot be any worse. If they are, then we will lose 8 games this year.

    I totally agree.

Rasner is one of the best playmakers on this team, but will be called "Toast" all season because they are playing him out of position.

  • No hes not even close to being one! WAY too slow! Got burned by an inferior opponet all night long! Whats gonna happen when Alabama rolls into town next week?! Its gonna be a laughstock guys get ready for it!

DAMN IT FEELS GOOD 2B A HOGGG!!

  • He may not be, but he has been the best defensive player on the field for Arkansas two weeks in a row. That pick he made was huge or hogs would have lost in regulation. He is an OLB or Star or whatever they want to call that position other than injury above the shoulder. If I hear one more time, I may throw up and get kicked out of press box.
He should be at Star and Tenarius at DE. I will say this though for everyone who rips Rasner all the time. if all 22 players on the field had just played as well as Ross last night Arkansas would have won.

No way to argue you are correct. Have to get speed on the field on defense and Tank has no clue at LB. Don't think Highsmith is any good either.
Rasner to LB and Tank to DE to start. If any of the freshman can run get them on the field.

Being the best defensive player on the field for this team is like being the tallest midget. I know you love him, but he wouldn't sniff the starting lineup of Bama or LSU or probably 40 other teams.

Sorry, that's just the way it is. Not dogging on anyone, he just isn't very talented compared to most SEC players. If you disagree, then feel free to tell me what round he will be drafted in this year.

  • So what I take from you saying Rasner is our best player on is that we are in for a very long season! He wouldnt be the best player on ULMs defense so what does that say about us?

It says exactly what giving up 872 yards in the first 2 games to cupcakes says.......................... It says that the defense sucks. When Ross Rasner is the best player you got, that speaks volumes.

  • I agree Otis. Both Rasner & Tank are playmakers if played in the right positions. It would have been nice if the young LBs had been broken in during those first two games. Really asking a lot for them to get initiated in the Bama game. On the other hand, why wait?

I agree with you but at this time put the young lbers in the game. They have to be better than what we are seeing.

  • I've bumped this thread for the posters that always refer to other posters on this board as "experts". Obviously by putting experts in parentheses, those posters are being facetious.

Well, as you can see by this old thread, there are quite a few posters on this board that do know what they are talking about. They were calling for the change of position for Tank before the coaches actually did change his position. Hopefully that will put an end to the condescending talk to posters that don't always agree 100% with the coach's decision. Sometimes the posters may actually be right, like they were in this thread.

  • How many times did Rasner drop to safety last year?

    Not too many.

Well I guess that would depend on your definition of "not too many". To me, any more than once was too many. :)

sorry it never took an expert to know tank was out of position

only took someone who was not too close the the situation and had not watched him play against the second team all fall

    this is an embarrasing thread

What is embarrassing is your inability to comprehend the english language. I am not saying that anyone in this thread is an "expert". Geez ........... Read the damn post before you start throwing barbs around my friend.
