Fair enough. Just curious: What do you think Baylor's problem has been in the past as far as attracting enough talent to be a factor?

I'll give you an honest, unbiased answer. As a longtime Baylor fan, we totally screwed the pooch when we entered the Big 12. While Texas, A&M & Tech spent countless millions on the arms race, we sat back and cashed Big 12 checks, thumbed our nose at TCU,SMU, and Rice. We did nothing to keep up with the competition facility wise or coaching wise. Within 4 years, we were miles behind the competition. Couple that with a school president that knew nothing about athletics.

Then a few years back we got rid of the imposter president, revamped the administration over at the athletic office, and began the lengthy process of playing catch up. Under the leadership of a new athletic director, Baylor realized the great expense needed to play the catch up game. Fortunately, we had some heavy hitters who were willing to help the cause. The overall budgets were increased at the expense of red ink. Today Baylor has facilities and high paid coaches that can and are competing. I realize it's been a number of years since Hog fans made the trip to Waco. If you came, you would be shocked. The building of the new football stadium will complete the process. Are we there yet? Not in the eyes of most Baylor fans. But we are closing the gaps at a pace faster than we could have imagined. Women's basketball, men's and women's tennis, softball and track are competing on the national level. Men's basketball has reached top 10 status. Football is in the top 20. Will football be poised to stay there? There will be plenty of questions answered next year. We've got plenty to replace, but the recruiting is vastly improved. Like the SEC, the schedule is tough. Returning to a third straight bowl would satisfy most fans for next year.

We messed up 20 years ago and paid the price. Today we are making the journey to where we want to be. Given a break here and there, Baylor is poised to be totally competitive in the Big 12 across the board in the years to come. THAT'S JUST THE COLD HARD FACTS.

  • Why in the hell are Hog fans going after Baylor? Shit! You guys act as if we have never lost out on a Texas recruit to a Texas school. Grow the hell up and realize that if we are going to compete year-in and year-out with Bama and LSU then Bobby P needs to step up his recruiting efforts. And don't give me the ole "I trust Bobby" BS. We got anal raped by Bama and LSU this past season. Why? Because we didn't have the horses to run the race with them. We got embarrassed. And don't throw out the stat like "but we beat LSU 3 out of 4 years." Has our recruiting improved since then? Nope. It's actually declined from Bobby's first two seasons.

You guys talk smack about Les Miles and how horrible he is (and I think he's overrated) but he smoked us last year in Baton Rouge. Sure, Willy Robinson was a terrible DC but who's the head coach? Who's the head honcho? Who should be to blame when Vandy gets more 4-stars than us? Bobby is a hell of a coach; don't get me wrong. But he just doesn't seem like a personable person to outsiders and some of you need to realize that.

But congrats to Baylor for landing this recruit. I apologize for the "homers" ITT.

    Seriously ???

I looked at Baylor's schedule and laughed.

  • Baylor 33 wins vs Arkie 35 wins with 2 ties all time. We need to more wins to get even with you pigs.

Seems like we wouldn't mind lining up and going nose to nose with you boys, any time you want some of it!

The talking is easy, but the walking is all that matters!

That would be TWO more wins needed.
We are not Arkie, it is spelled Arkansas... it is not that difficult.
    Fans don't schedule games, FYI.
You are doing nothing but talking yourself.
Also, doesn't the SEC catch enough flack for scheduling too many cupcake games as it is?

Take your sorry attempt at trash talking elsewhere. Buh-bye!

I actually wanted to give our fans kudos for not going to the basketball player murdering his team mate and then the coach covering it up or the David Koresh cards!!!!!!

    Good restraint guys!!!!!

Uh Huh! So, you and Texas have close odds, huh, compared to Baylor.

So we are going for three victories in a row over the Horns this year.

Don't go betting the baby's milk money on these type projections, lil pig, you gonna have a mad wife and a crying baby!

SI had us winning 3 games last year too. And we won 10, including winning the Alamo. And our odds of winning the Heisman were off the charts.

Guess who won it? Was it anyone from Arkie? How about LSWho? Bama? Was it Andrew Luck? Nope, lil ole RGIII from Baylor University in Waco Texas.

Again, using these type guesstimates is a losing battle for you little piggy!

I don't think he was guesstimating anything. I think he was trying to show you that the general perception of your beloved school around the nation is not very good even though you had the all mighty RGIII last year. No reasonable adult would say "we are better than you because Vegas says so".

And there is no need to guess who won the Heisman... everyone who is a football fan watched the ceremony. Congrats for being a fan of the team that Heisman trophy winner played for.

Everyone outside of Baylor knows Baylor had pretty good season last year, but it was a fluke in everyone's mind until proven otherwise. Sometime the blind squirrell finds the acorn....
