  • Totally get that we have one more visit weekend and I'm sure they are pouring a ton of energy and thought on trying to finish THIS class
out, but I wonder if you either of you have heard or can share what the 2014 recruiting strategy/set up will look like in regard to territory, JR Days, ect? Just my opinion, but this class has put us far behind in regard to SEC standards and there is too much ground to make up this late in the game. As I think I've read Otis say before, it isn't really all about what you do, its how it compares to your competition - and right now just about all our competition is kicking our ass in a pretty major way - and that goes for Ole Miss, Vandy, Miss St - hell, I guess every SEC team outside of KY who would be comparable thus far depending on how they finish as they have much higher rated kids visiting than we do. Not that its a shock at all, as the last staff was not only put in a bad situation, but obviously weren't a great recruiting staff by any stretch either.

The reason I already bring up 2014 is that I'm reading stories on A&M and other SEC schools moving towards JR Days, having JR's visiting and getting possible commits already. Recruiting moves fast these days and you can fall pretty far behind in a hurry.

  • Arkansas will have junior days. I haven't found out the dates yet and there has been nothing said on recruiting territories. I am sure they are just trying to sign the best kids they can this year and will assign territories afterwards. They will junior days but havent found out the dates yeet.

  • The Hogs are focused on 2013 right now. That's not to say they aren't doing some 2014 recruiting as well. They are. But as far as junior days and camps, they haven't set the dates yet. They're going to start hitting 2014 kids hard very soon, but with up to nine spots left, 2013 is the priority right now.

Be careful what you say here. You will be labeled as a negative glass half empty poster.

With that said I agree with you that our competition is kicking our tail, but like I said in another post this staff has only been together for a month. Hard to expect much more than what they are doing. I think we will see how good this staff is next year and I believe they will put together a top 25 class after a year of building relationships versus a month.

  • Yeah, I'm aware of that, but I've been on Hog boards so long now - I just don't give a damn about posters like "hog_fan" and ones like him. I qualified the post by saying it isn't a shock since the last staff basically sucked in regard to recruiting so by default the new staff coming in this late were up against a very tough situation. But, that is a given and has been said by me and others many times, yet there will always be the posters that will ignore that... That is their problem - not mine.

Even having said the above and understanding why its happening, doesn't change it the fact that it is. So, its likely we are going to have a couple of tough years ahead as this new staff gets its feet underneath them and build the program basically from the ground up. I can live with that as I believe we will be the better for it in the long run as someday it would be great not be so fragile of a program as we are today.
