Rolling out of Lowell and headed to Springfield with a couple other reporters. Will be posting updates on this thread throughout the morning leading up to DGB's signing at 9:15. Hopefully this Mountain Dew will kick in soon!

Hello Joplin. Goodbye Joplin. Making good time. Should be in Springfield before 8:30, thankfully. One of the guys I am riding with will be live on a Fort Smith radio station at 8:30, and I'll be on a F'ville station at the same time. Could get interesting if we're still in the car then.

8:15 -- At the gym now. Five TV trucks outside and 10 cameras already set up. Sign on the wall says "Deep in the Heartbreak of Texas!" Somebody doesn't like the Horns.

8:26 -- John Beckham is wearing a red tie.

8:49 -- Band is playing, cheerleaders dancing and the football team has seats on the gym floor. Coach Beckham looks like he is ready to get this thing going.

11:20 -- Heading down U.S 44, and I am still stunned that DGB chose Mizzou. In my eyes, he would have had a much better opportunity at any of the other three finalists. It would be like me being offered a job at Sports Illustrated but turning it down to go work for Phil Steele's college football preview magazine. But hey, he and his family seem happy.
