  • No defense at all

  • Man we had to endure that Defense for years. I don't think that there was a Coach that was a worse fit that Mike D'Antoni was. Bad move by the Big Wigs in L.A.

  • I hate having to listen to fata$$ barkley. I hate that sucker. His fat butt never guarded anyone in the NBA. Lakers are missing two starters who happen to be two of the better players in the NBA. He doesn't know how they will do when they get those two and Blake back. You can't take a Nash and Gasol off the team and expect them to be that good. you just can't do it.
I agree wps to a degree about the D, but part of it was just NY couldn't miss either. Howard had a hand in Wallace's face and he still hit three.

  • When I found out that Barkley was doing color commentary I immediately muted the tv. He is awful and painful to listen to.

biggrinSmart man, I can't stand him or Shaq. Their classic that Andrew Bynum is better than Dwight Howard. That was a classic. Barkley I have just never cared for at all.

  • I actually think Bynum is better than Howard. Howard isn't good unless he is dunking. The Lakers are just horrid.

There is no way on God's green earth Andrew Bynum is better than Howard. No way. I have watched every game Bynum has played in the NBA and there is no way he is better than Howard.

Andrew Bynum is a punk who has bad knees .that hit on JJ Barea a couple of years ago was very typical of Bynum.

  • Bynum is better on defense but he is always hurt more than Howard. He hasn't played a full season yet has he? I think Howard is still the best center in the league.
Woodshed I had a thread to you and Otis about two weeks ago no can't wait till Christmas Day. Rematch between lakers and Knicks, celtics vs nets, bulls vs rockets, clippers and trailblazers, and heat vs thunder. Better than any other day of the season IMO.

Andrew Bynum hasn't even reached his full potential yet. It seems as if Howard has peaked. Since the beginning of last year I was saying Bynum was better than Howard. If you can make a valid point besides saying Bynum is hurt more maybe I will be able to see where you're coming from.

JRO I agree that Bynum is better on D. But how about O? On the team D-Howard was on he was the "man". Bynum had to find his touches where he could. That's one of my arguments.

Bynum isn't better on D than Howard. You do realize right now Howard is about 60-70 percent healthy don't you? His back is only about 60-70 percent healthy yet he is out there playing most minutes other than Kobe. If that was Bynum he would be on the sidelines just like he has all season. Last year Shaq made that stupid statement that Bynum was better just before LA played Orlando and Howard destroyed him. I mean destroyed him. Howard is probably the best defensive player in the NBA. As I said right now he is 60-70 percent. For the horrid comment from Jay, take Westbrook and Durant off OKC and see how good they are. Nash and Gasol are very important to LA. For that matter, take Blake Griffin and Chris Paul off Clippers and see how good they are.

Have you not watched those two when they go against one another? Have you watched it. Howard destroys Bynum. Howard is about 60-70 percent right now and when healthy is the best defensive player in the NBA. And yes I said Howard was much better when Bynum was on the Lakers. Bynum is an overrated punk and the only Laker I hated the past 2-3 years.

    Otis Kirk

  • When all 3 of those guys played they were still horrid. Wrong coach wrong system. Its not the players fault its just that none of them go together... Don't know if you get what I'm saying. Nash made a name for himself doing pick and roll. I believe him and Howard would thrive if that was the type O they could run. Kobe wouldn't fit in with it though.

Horrible coaching hire by the LA front office. They would have been better off just keeping Mike if they weren't going to hire Phil back.

And the Thunder will be one of the best teams in the league for a while. Not my fault Westbrook and Durant ended up there lol. Just went to one of their games about 3 weeks ago. AMAZING.

He's not even the best defender at his position. Its 2 true centers that I think a lot of people would debate with you on that. Guy by the name of Tyson Chandler for one. And I think Perkins is a great defender down low. Howard is like Ibaka. He gives great weak side help that translates into a lot of blocks. Ibaka should have got defensive player of the year last year.

Oh so two games under Mike Brown and they were horrid? two games under Mike Brown and they were horrid huh? Kobe will fit in the pick and roll he can fit into any scheme. how do you explain Howard destroying Bynum when they go against each other if Bynum is better. For the life of me, I don't get why people say Kobe wouldn't fit into P&R system. Kobe can play in any system.
It isn't anyone's fault Durant and Westbrook are there, what I am saying let those two get hurt or Paul and Griffin at LAC and let's see how good those two teams are.
Mike Brown sucked and no they shouldn't have kept him. And two games of Pau and Nash wiht Mike Brown doesn't define a season.

I either never saw those 2 play against each other or I don't remember it. Horrible memory. I understand what you're saying about Durant and Westbrook. I still believe Brown would have been better off for the team. They aren't going to "run and gun" anyone with the age on their team right now. Playing good hard defense would have been their best bet, and then run ISO with Kobe the way he did in Cleveland with LeBum. I'll agree to disagree on the Howard and Bynum thing. I don't think Howard is anywhere near 100%. Maybe when he gets healthier they can rely on him more.

    Nice debate fellas.

I would have rather had Bernie Bickerstaff than Mike Brown and maybe better than D'antoni as well. They played some good basketball with Bernie as HC

Thats true. And on the C question I think it depends on what you're looking for in C. If I needed a scorer sure I'd go with D Howard. Me personally I think a C is supposed to anchor your defense. And in that case I would take Tyson Chandler. He can play pick and roll and he makes his money playing defense.

I'm getting close to saying that he is the best all around C though. Scoring and defense. So Otis I guess you have a valid point. I would still take TC over him though.
