OK? I don't get your endorsement of PP

  • just keeping anyone named Petrino in the mix has kept the wound open which is only topped by the failure history of PP at Illinois recently and AR now as an OC.... Not an overwhelming recruiter even though he has had a few hits. I do remember when he came back he said he wanted 4 years to get his kids through school in Fayetteville with some continuity... I would think that has to have changed and he would jump if offered even a lateral move. Since you have commented that it would be good to keep PP on board thru transition, my question is what has he done to deserve this confidence?

    Not OK, but he is a hell of a receivers coach.

    What are you talking about? I haven't said the new coach should keep Paul. I said Butch might want to if he can't find one, but Butch isn't getting this job. Mike Gundy nor Gary Patterson aren't going to keep him. My question to you is what in hell are you talking about? I said back in the spring he should have gotten the interim job, still maintain that, but that was only because he would have been closest thing to his brother they could hire.

  • What the helll I am talking about is an answer you gave later than spring that PP was worth keeping around and that he deserved consideration or something to that effect. It was a real flip answer to something innocuous on the board, but stood out to me because there was not a lot of praise for anything that PP was receiving at the time. I do know that you did endorse him for interim but this was after that. Not gonna go bother to hunt it down because it don't mean diddly and you did not jump on my ass because you think PP's work is stelllar which is an answer in itself. I feel bad for him and his family since they live in the shadow of Bobby and what Bobby has done, but his OC skills are not enough to make him needed in the future regime.

    Jump on your ass? I'm not jumping on your ass. The only thing I remember saying about Paul being retained was someone asked me if he had a chance to stay around with the next coach. I said Butch Davis might want to hire him since he will need to put together a staff from scratch. The new coach is very unlikely to keep Paul and I have said Bobby Allen and Tim Horton have the best chance of staying. I thought Butch might keep Paul as a WR coach. I don't see him being the next OC at Arkansas regardless of who is hired. You take one answer I gave out of 15,000 posts and call that an endorsement. That is why I don't speculate much on stuff anymore. Someone comes up and says, but you said........... Yeah in 15000 posts I may have said Butch might keep Paul around, that was an answer to a question not an endorsement.
