Lets Do this: Grade the Hire

I really wanted Gundy and Petersen but the more I think of the hire, Jeff did an incredible job. I think Brett wlll finally get us the OL we have been looking for. You can't deny that he has put almost as much talent into the NFL as any other coach in fball. I think he can win big here. My only negative is he has zero ties to Texas, but maybe he will bring some guys that will.

B+ no ties to recruiting the South is my only concern(note posters please don't get mad bc I gave my opinion and I'm not trying to bully anyone)
I want his WR coach to come he was Florida's WR coach in 2010 and the bowl game in 2009(where Tebow threw for 452 yards a career high)

Big time defensive guy. Top 10 type coach which is what JL promised! I was pissed for about a half hour. Researched it and deem it a home run hire!

Im the same way gohawgsgo. Took me a minute to warm up but I think you can classify this as a HR hire.

A I think his stle of play is exactly what we need to compete year in and year out in SEC West! Especially against Alabama and LSU! I am very pleased with the hire! Really do think this is the style coach we need! WPS!!

On paper, I think its pretty good. Problem is, will it translate to the UA and SEC. Best athletes are in the SEC - not the BIG 10 by FAR.
And, with this hire we again (thus far not counting assts) do not address our recruiting obstacles. So, I'll hide and watch and see what happens. I will say - I hope he wins fast. The minute he struggles throwing the ball at all or scoring - people will turn on him quicker here than most places with HDN still fresh in peoples mnds. He also better beat Auburn. The Gus hire turns that pressure up a bit more, and with Gus they have the "trendy" Offense scheme ect. We lose to them, it won't go over well at all...

Except they don't have a QB. I pray he starts Frazier and I wasn't impressed with jonathon Wallace even as a freshman.
Where will Gus recruit? He has arkansas and that's it. I'm not worried at all who's his DC John Thompson?
We got the best hire of in all of College football this year bc no one lose will get a BCS conference coach to come there.

Regardless, they still have talent there. And, if we are trying to put in an entire new scheme... blah, blah... It really doesn't matter what my reasoning is - the bottom line is he better win against them - period. He has a couple of possible explosive situations that I hope he can get past: Not being able to throw the ball and of course the Gus deal at AU - both things would have fans pissed off quickly.

I agree B+! Very solid hire, I like better than Briles, Pelini, Fisher and several others that were being mentioned.
