OK you have achieved a personal best. I am gonna ring the bell for you. Outstanding work and spot on. I agree with you 100% and lets just hope this is resolved fast.

  • Thank you for this! I am with you 100% on this. Let him keep his job! Everybody wants to be critical about this but let me tell you something, if every single one of us were in his shoes at that press conference knowing our family life was in jepordy, we may have very well done the exact same thing. Now im not justifying him lying but he is human and we all make mistakes. He messed up but look at what all he has done for the university! LET HIM KEEP HIS JOB!! WPS!!

DAMN IT FEELS GOOD 2B A HOGGG!!

  • I'm willing to forgive about anything. OJ, Sandusky, the Baylor Basketball coach and those they prey on the weak disgust me. I hope CBP gets one of life's wake up calls and moves forward. I love him being our coach!

  • Not an Arkansas fan but a great read. I agree with you.

  • Interesting read, and I would agree that having an affair and lying to his boss won't, in and of themselves, get Petrino fired.

However, Mr. Kirk failed to mention issues which are likely to get Petrino fired, which include a possible sexual harassment lawsuit by Dorrell, a possible hostile work environment lawsuit by her fiancé, and possible lawsuits by anyone who applied for the job Dorrell was given.

Petrino exposed the university to huge financial risk, and that is a much greater issue than the two issues which the article centered on. I'm not saying here that Petrino should or shouldn't be fired...but I am saying that the biggest issue is one which this article failed to address. This incident isn't about merely having an affair and lying to the boss.

sexual harassment from Dorrell? They were having an affair. It was like she rejected his advances or something. She was on the back of a bike with him a few months before she was to be married.
hostile work environment from her fiance? Petrino and him don't even work that close together. Why doesn't the math professor also sue BP?
Possible lawsuit by those who applied for the job? Lawsuits are filed every day about something and while one could filed by someone but that is no reason to get him fired.

He is her surperior. Regardless of whether it was mutual or not it could still be considered sexual harrassment since he is in the power position, therefore his decisions are held to higher degree than hers. She could sue the university for sexual harrassment, and depending on what Long finds out she could make out like a bandit and potentailly never have to work again.

In regards to others who applied sueing, it depends on how many people applied for the job, and how many were legitimately considered i.e. brought in for an interview at least. It also makes a difference if she received preferential treatment in regards to the hiring. Did she go through the same procedures as the other candicicates for the job? Was Petrino the one who directly hired her? Did he give her the only interview? All these things will have to be asked and considered before any apprpiate action can be made.

If she did receive preferential treatment then said applicants can file a suit that holds some water, and they could potentially be EXPENSIVE.

  • Nice read Otis thanks .

My issue is the fact he hired his fling . That imo is a very unprofessional move on BP's part .

Ya know BP has created this image the he is all about Football and that distractions will not be tolerated . When he hired that tramp he invited distractions into the program . That is what will be hard to overcome for alot of fans .

BP was fronting . He aint all that .

  • Long's hands may be tied. If he keeps him on, it sets dangerous precedent for decisions in the future regarding less visible employees who do the same thing

He will be punsihed. Suspended without pay for some period of time for sure. Probably other financial penalties will be imposed as well. His financial penalties could well exceed $1 million dollars. Not sure how that would set some dangerous precedent. If someone less visible did it, they should expect to be punished as well and they would pay no where near $1 million dollars.

  • Alabama set a similar precedent, and I haven't heard of any issues they've had because of it. Mike DuBose was accused of having an affair with his secretary in 1999. He denied it but eventually forked over $300,000 out of court. He kept his job, but his contract was reworked. He got fired at the end of the 2000 season for having a bad team.

Yes. People are making this a much bigger deal than it is. Punish him, transfer her and go on with life. My goodness, the dude didn't kill baby seals. He was tempted and he relented to a beautiful 25 year old girl. Damn crazy ain't it ? i'm sure none of us would ever give in to temptaion to a 25 year old blonde volleyball player.

    Naaaahhhhhhh. We are perfect.
