If Horton gets interim

this will be this staffs last year together
horton will not be the final coach and the new guy will bring his staff
horton is a good guy and popular but not HC material IMO
HC will naturally have everyones respect. BP had it, The Bear had it, Saban has it, Nutt never really had it and could not win consistantly. In good years Horton will have us in the Cotton Bowl.
Good guy (as far as I know) but not a head coach
If Long selects him he is signalling that this staff is lame duck Long is showing me he is who I thought he was during the last coaching search while dealing with Tubby, Groh, and Bowden think they all got raises while making a fool out of Jeff and the UA

I will be at the games and will woo pig as loud as I can but my fear is we will underachieve and waste a chance to see what a PAUL petrino (as opposed to bobby) can do.
Nothing against Tim but I do not think he is the guy.

If Horton has this awesome staff and the awesome talent and attitude of this team, then we are looking at 10-14 wins and yes I'm serious(THEY ARE ON A MISSION). He does that and we keep the staff together then he should be named HC. You are only as good as the players you got and your staff and we are stacked right now. And this staff can recruit so you take 10+ wins and we will re-load not rebuild. PP would be another good interim option IMO. THE TRUTH!

If we were to have big success this season and keep the staff then why couldn't we keep the train rolling. The key is maintaining the great staff. I know what your saying and yes PP would be a better long-term option.

You may be right, but I just feel this staff is made up of a lot of #2's.

I just don't want to lose the great assistants we have, that is why I think whoever we hire should have as a condition to keep many on the current staff. Some HC's wouldn't agree to that, but some would especially NFL coordinators.

The timing on this was close to a biblical disaster! I couldn't agree more with everyone concerns. I honestly believe Paul is the best choice but Long would have to have Grapefruits to do it! Haynes, Johnson and Tim Horton will all be head coaches at some point over the next 3 years or so but not right now. I am going to back whom ever they hire short of Mike Leach. I just hope it workout for the best!
