I am a UA grad who is a diehard fan of all our teams. I am also a basketball coach and I can't help but shake my head at some of the comments I have been reading from a few vocal fans. I know we live in a society & a time when we WANT what we want and we WANT IT NOW! Food for thought; Indiana might be the best team in college basketball this season. Tom Crean has resurrected that once proud program. Coming over from Marquette, Crean's first THREE years saw the Hossiers go 6-25, 10-21 and 12-20. He stuck to his guns, recruited like heck and in the fourth year they went 27-9 and haven't looked back. Folks, this isn't the drive thru at McDonalds where you pull up to the window and order a National Power. It's like at Grandma's, you have to be patient while she cooks the meal. It might take a while but you are seldom disappointed. I watched us in the Ole Miss game and physically it looked like men vs. boys. I challenge anyone to tell me that we are physically comparable other top teams. Please! Our roster needs a major overhaul but the APR slows that process. The only way you get out of this is to RECRUIT your way out of it. Crean was able to reverse the trend and convince the great Indiana High School players to come to IU. Mike's rebuilding process fortunately coincides with an influx of great high school talent in this state. My message, BE PATIENT FOLKS!

My personal opinion, without naming names, I believe that several guys came in deficient in areas that an SEC caliber player should not be deficient in. Example; everone admits that Duke players improve but Coach K doesn't recruit guards who cannot shoot. Michigan State post players improve but Izzo does not recruit soft players. I see great improvement in Marshawn Powell's game but some guys are hard headed and believe their game is fine as it is. I think it is paramount to recruit "Coachable kids" from good programs who have solid fundamental backgrounds. That way you don't have to deal with some of this nonsense. Granted the emphasis placed on fundamentals once on campus can be tweaked to a small degree. I see your point but think about this; Bobby Petrino didn't recruit wishbone quarterbacks to run his passing offense.
