Has Petrino leaving helped redcruiting?

  • Seems like a lot of recruits have the Hogs in their list of top schools that will get an official, at least more than I remember from the last cycle. Is this a result of Petrino leaving, success on the field the last couple of years, or some better recruiters out there? Maybe all of the above? Just curious, because it looks like if the Hogs have another good year they could have a very good class next year.

  • Good observation, BP was not very good at closing the deal, very dry sense of humor and he is known for being a hard ass. He was very hard on the players, just look at how he chewed Tyler's butt out every other play. Great organizational skills, super good game planner, but a total JERK !
    Obviously, the recent success on the field has a lot of kids taking a serious look at Arkansas, coupled with great facilities and new ones coming. Him getting canned could be a blessing in disguise. Only time well tell.

    Petrino leaving has helped on 2-3 but that is it. Remember as some write about all the official visits coming here this fall, the same thing happened last year and many of those didn't happen. Kids throw out things to different people right now, but right now UA has commitments from kids that would have come had BP stayed and are on pretty much the same kids they would have been had he stayed.
    There are 2-3 kids I know of who didn't like him and wouldn't have come had he stayed but that is case with any head coach.
