"While at Purdue, Chaney was known as a spread offense guy. When Urban Meyer took his first coaching job at Bowling Green, he sought advice from several of the best coaches using the spread offense. One of those guys was Jim Chaney.[4] But spending a few years in the NFL Chaney gained a new found appreciation for the pro-style offense.[5] When Chaney came to Tennessee he and Kiffin fielded a very pro-style offense, very similar to what Kiffin used at USC. Tennessee currently runs a modified pro-style attack that still relies heavily on the pass game. While at Purdue, Chaney's offense was one of the most potent in the country.[6] He coached future NFL greats, most notably Drew Brees, who was drafted in the second round of the NFL draft in 2001."

This is a great hire. Chaney already knows how each SEC schools defense ticks. He will bring a lot of insight to game planning. I went back and watched some Tennessee highlights this morning from last year. The offense is different than CBBs but it is not as night and day different as I initially thought. I think the two will be able to mesh together a system that really works.
