Seriously, can't you hear it now.

strength coach yelling at the top of his lungs:

"COME ON ROBERT,GET THAT PINKY TOE INTO THE LIFT !!!!! DON"T MAKE THE BIG TOE DO ALL THE WORK. PINKY TOE, PINKY TOE, PINKY TOE !!!!"

Man..you get that on here and I'll bet you an adult beverage we'll have guys on here claiming that they love the pinky toe measurables and we must offer that kid!!!!

    roflmao Dammit man!

On a serious note though, they literally train almost every part of the body these days except the damn toes. Then someone is going to try to say that the only important lifts are the clean and the squat ??

Give me a break. There is a bunch of time in the weight room being WASTED if that is the case.

This guy's point was the clean and front squats were the best indicators of good football players. He said he wanted to see the chiseled chest, but that the true studs showed up in the other two lifts. He said he had hell getting players to want to clean because it was so much work.

Doing the clean sux, no doubt about that. Hated it. My knees would file a lawsuit on me now if I did a full clean.

For me squats got me a couple extra years of playing ball. Can't tell you how many times I got sick and threw up. Or couldn't get to my car until I stopped and rested.

Squats helped my stamina a bunch and made me not even feel tired when I played. I wish I had started doing legs seriously when I was in HS. Running and playing ball is much easier if you have strong legs.

You know technically it is supposedly impossible to walk without a limp without the pinky toe.

    I mean it's there for a reason.

  • 1sthogfan how many strength and conditioning coaches have you talked to? You said you ask them that question and then a long pause?

The same reason you work your calf muscles, back, neck, triceps, and biceps. Are you going to say curls help you in football too? You have to work all your muscles, you can't just concentrate on just squat and clean or your other muscles would be too weak. You'd get injured quite often and much easier.
