  • Paul Jones of the Mississippi State site Bulldawgs247 will be answering questions on our board Tuesday morning, starting at around 10 a.m. Central. Paul is an expert on all things Mississippi State and in recruiting, and we're very glad he's coming over to do this. Please post your questions for him in this thread.

  • Paul thanks for coming over. So what is your opinion and those around the program about what Dan Mullen is doing at Miss St? Is he building something there, simply having a good year, what are you thoughts about him and do you anticipate being able to keep him if he continues great seasons? Lastly who would you most hate to see coaching at Arkansas next season out of the likely candidates for the job?

  • Are Miss ST fans worried about losing Mullen to any job openings this year? Does he have a no compete clause in his contract? What is his buyout? Thanks!

  • I'm coming down to the game this weekend. Where's the party at (post-game)?

Where can I buy beer before the game Saturday? I know y'all have a lot of dry counties and weird alcohol/beer rules. My mom lives in Tupelo.

I'm serious. Go to HELL TSUN!

I think Mullen has built expectations higher than most realized he would. Of course as down as MSU was, just going to back-to-back bowls will do that for MSU fans. I think with the new football facility opening in January and then the expansion of Davis Wade Stadium will keep him around a bit longer than most expect. And I say Charlie Strong.

I believe his buyout is in the 2.5-3 million dollar range. And not sure about the no-compete clause. I believe MSU fans have grown numb to the rumors of Mullen going elsewhere due to what we've seen the past couple of years. The main concerns were previous seasons with openings at Florida and Penn State and nothing ever came about there. I think the only place he might leave for in the near future would be UGA but obviously Richt isnt going anywhere anytime soon with the Dawgs back in the SEC title game again. Every year Mullen's name comes up for openings and he laughs about it.

I left my drinking days behind in college, lol. But Starkville has cold beer everywhere basically and is not in a dry county. Talk to some of our guys on our site and they can direct you to good tailgate spots. Most are around the stadium.

  • In your opinion, what is the biggest weakness on the Bulldogs defense? I haven't watched many of MSU games so I was curious. Just wanting to know what Arkansas' best game plan would be to exploit the defense.

No pass rush and that has been a problem all year long. MSU has solid corners in Banks and Slay but even the best NFL corners cant hold down receivers with no help from the Dline. It was a bit better at LSU with def end Denico Autry but not where it needs to be.

Overall, what is the Bulldog's biggest strength this year?

Right now I would say the passing game led by quarterback Tyler Russell. He has always had a strong and accurate arm but has now taken ownership of the starting position after splitting time with former MSU qb Chris Relf.

    Thanks.

Now, what position group is the strongest moving forward after this year? What position(s) have Mullen recruited the best at?

I think offensive line because if senior guard Tobias Smith gets a 6th year of eligibility, which he should, then MSU doesnt lose anybody in the two-deep offensive line. MSU has recruited well at rb, too, and do not lose any rbs.

  • Any chance we will see Dak? A dual threat QB has been our kryptonite this season so I'm assuming he will get worked in somehow.

Yeah, Dak has played in nearly every game this year, mainly in goal line situations.
