“They are going to be terrible. What they are doing now, it’s the product of bad recruiting. They have a long ways to go. That’s nothing against the new coaching staff. But they are going to be terrible in Year 1. I think they’ll struggle up front, they’ll struggle in the secondary, the linebackers should be average. It’s going to take them three years to get a good foundation. It’s a product of bad recruiting – which is typical of Bobby Petrino. It’s the same thing that happened at Louisville that got Steve Kragthorpe fired. Petrino didn’t leave him any players. It’s the same thing at Arkansas. They have no players on defense…I think the young running back, Jonathan Williams, is going to be good for them.”
And some of you think we could win 8-10 games.....
Do you ever wonder what other coaches think about your favorite SEC West team?

I guess those coaches were at practice in the spring.
Yes we have some troubled areas but we are not as bad as they are saying.
I don't see anything wrong with that statement.
Bielema can always coach them up but on paper that's an accurate assessment.
These are SEC West coaches anonymously making those statements
Why would you even post this when we all know other SEC coaches are going to say this, especially to recruits. What is so different than any other year they talk bad about Arkansas?
Read the quotes about other teams. No team gets close to having the criticism that Arkansas does.
But er'rybody just picks on us every year, don't they? The national media and every other team in the SEC just hates Arkansas more than anybody else.
No players on defense??? Curious as to how many players some of them can actually name by position ...cause last I checked...Smith, Flowers, BJ, and Tevin Mitchell are anything but chopped liver.
Some very "vague" quotes comparing a Kragthorpe's old regime to Coach B and Co. is kind of just histarical, because they are not even in the same zip code as far as resumes are concerned.

"Expect the best. Prepare for the worst. Capitalize on what comes." -Zig Ziglar #NeverYield;
Good article and it shows how we are viewed in this league. More specifically, this division.
Rutgers in Jersey, Auburn in Fayetteville and Miss State in Little Rock. If we lose any of those games there will be no bowl for the Hogs this year IMO. We really need a bowl.
Bulletin board material
arkansas will win seven games this season
Gotta make any and I mean any bowl. Gonna be a tough year but it will get better. If CB makes a bowl in his first year, stand by.
That same book also has the hogs having a first team de a second team dt and a third team s so hopefully than can coach them up?
The old anonymous quote trick. Anybody could have said this - a GA, University janitor, member of the field crew, or maybe even a SDS beat writer. If you believe an SEC Head Coach is sitting down with Saturday Down South and telling them stuff like this, then there is no hope for you.
1. It's not SDS, it's Athlon. The article I linked was SDS, but they're quoting the Athlon article.
2. I don't think anyone thinks it's a head coach, but it's certainly someone on the coaching staff.
3. They do this every year.
In case anyone is interested, here's what Athlon printed last year from anonymous coaches in the SEC West on Arkansas:
“They have a great scheme and great personnel. Losing Coach (Bobby) Petrino is a tough blow. He is a unique playcaller, has a great feel for the game and a good command of the game. They still have the players, but his loss will be felt.
They have a great one in Tyler Wilson. They have tremendous amount of speed at the skill positions and gifted tight ends.
Here’s how good they were last year on offense: They lost Knile Davis, a first-team All-SEC running back from the year before, and they still had the No. 1 offense in the league.
Wilson gets beat up a lot. They have a lot of five-man protection packages where they are getting people out in routes quickly, and he recognizes that he has to get the ball off, and he knows that he is going to get hit. That being said, I don’t think they have an upper-level offensive line. That is one area on offense that can get better.
They can spread you out all over the field and still run the ball with some success.
They didn’t play well enough on defense, so I’m not really surprised they made a move and fired (Willy Robinson). The team was good, but the defense was just okay. They didn’t do a whole lot that confused you.
They are losing two really good players on defense in the end (Jake Bequette) and the linebacker (Jerry Franklin).”
HA HA HA, that is great!
We will win 7-8 games this year.
We are better at every position then we were when Bobby Petrino took over.
it is out of Athlon's says an opposing coach said it for what that is worth
I've been saying this for a while now. But I'm a bad, bad, pessimistic poster. Psht.
Bunch of homers on here.
Hell. We could win more games than expected... but my expectations are based on what we have and the players' potential under a new staff, scheme, and playbook. Third head coach in three years.
