I don't know one thing about the Collins situation with his moma personally but in general let me say this...not all players are from fiancial backgrounds where their parent(s) can easily afford time off from work or the expenses to come see them play, provide them with a vehicle to travel around campus or back and forth to school, fly them back and forth, etc.
As far as him living with his coach, it could be a situation of having to move and give away legal guardianship (not sure this happened) to live in an attendance zone for a certain school (happens in Louisiana: recent big issue with LHSAA over schools recruiting and the playoffs, etc.)
Maybe Moma's actions aren't the path most of us would take but to label her crazy seems a little over the top.
I don't know know that Arkansas offered anything under the table or that they didn't but I know the pressure can be there on both sides from looking into the whole thing with past players, parents, etc. in the past months.
The truth appears to be the whole football recruiting thing isn't about going to a good school and getting a good education and playing football to help pay the bill but it is becoming much, much more about big bucks for the coaches and the school, bragging rights and ego trips for the coaches to get high paying jobs in a financial stratsophere most of us will never see. For some kids its only about getting to the NFL which most never do. Given all of this:
I think the NCAA needs to change some things:
--Give the players a "living allowance" I know this is being discussed...at least in the SEC.
--Allow them to provide more in the way of transportation cost for parents...however, I do believe his Mom would have at least some of her expenses paid for an official visit....but maybe it was a work thing or something, we don't know why she didn't go.
---One more small point, if you think these administrators, coaches and recruiters aren't quick to label family members in derrogatory terms because they question their actions...think again. But I doubt that's exclusive to Arkansas.

Doesn't mean anything.....not many other colleges in sofla handing out law degrees. See the NCAA debacle of them hiring a Miami attorney to go against miami.
Brick by Brick
"There's going to be a lot of people who didn't stand with us who are going to be remembered for not standing with us,"
Doesn't matter anymore. Collins snubbed the Thugs and is a Razorback.
