To me it looks like Alex Collins wanted to go to Arkansas once he stepped on the campus. He said on Monday he was glad to finally get this off his chest. I think his parents and friends talked to him for hours trying to convince him to stay in the state of Florida. It's shame he already choose where to go and he has his own family and friends that can't respect that.
If that is the case with all the light on Miami right now it would be stupid and the NCAA will burn them to the ground. They already want to due to the embarrassment over the investigation. So far
Miami is putting heat on the mother because she has already cashed the check.
I so wish he would have just said nothing and signed this morning. I remember Otis saying he would have to fight off a lot of pressure from the Miami clan. Including his GF , mother and father. Just can't see us getting this kid.
Thanks for keeping us updated Otis!! We appreicate it
I knew getting arguebly the top running back in the nation was too good to be true. Atleast we got Kirkland and Mitchell, but Collins is the guy in this 2013 class we got to have.
I said the same exact thing Monday night
Girlfriend knows she's out if he comes here.
If Alex himself doesn't want to be here, then he should go where he wants to go. However, if he wants to come to Arkansas, and feels it is what is best for him athletically (getting to the NFL), and personally (just being happy), then he should step up and be the man that he is going to have to be very soon. If he can make a good decision for himself, without someone else making if for him, then he will be fine.
In the end, I ultimately want the kid to be happy with his choice and where he ends up.
“If you can't fly then run, if you can't run then walk, if you can't walk then crawl, but whatever you do you have to keep moving forward.”
Knows that she won't see any of that NFL money one day.
Exactly. The kid will never put forth the effort at a place he's forced to go like he would where he chose to go.
And unfortunately the girlfriends can make the decision and we know from her tweets she hates Arkansas. I will be seriously shocked if this kid signs with us today or anyday.
He's too nice of a kid from watching his commitment. Not doubt in my mind he wants to play for BB and Arkansas. But his heart is being torn apart and they won't be happy until he signs with Miami and I expect he will if he hasn't already. Look for Miami to receive a LOI sometime today.
Alex Collins had all the time in the world to know where to go. He visited Arkansas and Miami and a handful of other schools on unofficial visits. He went on live television to make his decision less than 48 hours from National Signing day and now he still is uncertain. If he truely wants to go to Miami he would had said it on Monday. I don't believe for one bit that him postponing the signing is all on him. Friends in Florida bashed him on twitter and his mom wanted him to stay in Florida from the beginning.
I think he still comes here.
ESPN Insider just released some more info on Collins. Here it is to the people who don't have insider.
Another top recruit is having second thoughts. ESPN 150 running back Alex Collins (Plantation, Fla./South Plantation) committed to Arkansas Monday. Arkansas has yet to receive a letter of intent, and Collins is reconsidering his options.
"Alex Collins has cancelled his signing day ceremony," Dieter Kurtenbach of South Florida Sun Sentinel reported. "I'm told he's considering flipping."
Collins would likely flip to Miami.
The main reason for Collins' apprehension is Arkansas' distance from his home in Florida. Miami is a short drive from Plantation and it would allow Collins to play at a program close to his family and friends.
Collins said during his earlier commitment that he didn't know anything else but Miami until a few months ago. Collins went out to discover his options. Arkansas intrigued him, but Miami is still his home.
This news hurts this day was looking like a great day for the Arkansas Razorbacks. We will push forward I do think he will sign and things will be alright if Arkansas is the place he wanted to go.
Really don't think this is a matter of him being uncertain about AR but rather certain family members throwing a fuss. Going into a room full of people with those who are supposed to be their in support causing a scene. It's HIS big day. It's a once lifetime opportunity...so its sad that the moment and spotlight he has earned has been stolen from him.

I was just about to post he isn't signing anywhere today.
Its also disturbing to watch High school coaches do the samething... Collins coach Gatewood is good friends with Bielema and Partriage no surprise there...
This deal where parents have to sign LOI isn't the best thing sometimes.....

This is, sadly, probably true. I understand a Mom wanting her son to be close to home, but I know that my parents always wanted me to do what was best for me, and what would make me happy. I especially know this now, as a father I never want anything, but the best for my son, and I couldn't imagine stepping in like this. I know that if my son ever was a high level recruit that I would certainly want him at the UofA, but I would try to stay out of it as much as I could, and let him decide. This a time in a person's life where they really get to start taking on much more responsibility and their decisions have a much bigger impact on them and their future. It should be a decision that they ultimately make. Not one that they make because of their family putting immense amounts of pressure on them, a family should guide him to a decision, not push him. Just my opinion.
So, it is suddenly unethical for college coach to have a good connections and be well-liked? It is not like Gatewood is at every Arkansas game calling the Hogs. He has certainly meet both staffs, and has told his star player what he thinks is best for him, based on who is more impressed with. Isn't that one of the main aspects of recruiting?
Also, I bet if Collins had committed to Miami on Monday, that Gatewood wouldn't be pressuring him out that commitment today.
