Here's a link to Coach Bielema's interview on The Dan Patrick Show:
The official home of the Dan Patrick Show. Interact with Dan Patrick and the Danettes as they debate sports on a daily television and radio show. Listen to Dan interview the biggest athletes and celebrities in the world and cover the day's biggest sports stories.
Dan has pretty hard on him. I thought CBB handled it well. CBB did say he'd like to play Wisconsin.
Peace, Love, Toes in the Sand....
I am surprised Dan Patrick got after him. He is usally a jock sniffer and kisses up to everyone on there or at least he did back when I listened to him.
I am always surprised when a talking head has the ballz to question a coach for taking a different job. Talk about hypocrisy ...........
Geez, how arrogant do you have to be to question another man's life decisions ? Who is Dan Patrick or anyone else to question what another man does ? Who are they to pass judgement on what job another man should or shouldn't take ?? What makes them so special that they can try to tell someone else what they should or shouldn't do with their life ? Dan Patrick isn't going to tell me which job I should or shouldn't take, so why should he tell BB or anyone else the same ? Who gave him that authority ?? Other than himself .............
IMO, Alvarez got egg on his face....
It's somewhat apparent that the salary issues for assistants at Wisconsin was a factor to CBB.
Without competitive salaries, he was going to have a revolving door of coaches...
Wisconsin does not have a poor athletic department and actually has a higher Total Athletic Revenue than Arkansas. They are the fourth highest in the B10. I suspect that Alvarez had the means to fund the coaches at a higher salary, but didn't. He thought that he had CBB for as long as Alvarez wanted him could do what he wanted without risk of losing his coach.
He thought wrong....
You are definitely on to something. I believe that Alvarez fell into the same trap that many humans fall into. They take things for granted.
i guess dan should have never left espn. what an ass
Wow if I could count how many times I've taken a piece of ... Well never mind but still I've taken things for granted plenty of times.
"Do me a favor, and don't flirt with any other jobs. I don't want to hear your name associated with any other jobs".
Not sure who he thinks he is....
I'm Dan Patrick.....I'm Dan Patrick......I'm Dan Patrick...
Who gives a Rat's Arse.....
yeah did you catch as well ??
I think this arrogant azz truly believes that BB or anyone else for that matter would give 2 rips what he thinks about their life/job.
Can you imagine Dan Patrick walking into a bar full of oil field workers and telling them "If you get a chance to better your life and make yourself happier, do me a favor and don't do it because I think there needs to be more loyalty in the world". lol ........
I wouldn't want to pay his dental bill after that conversation.
I think Dan needs to in fact spend a little more time with oil field workers... you know the little people.
Home is where the heart is. This is a map of mine.
yeah, it would take him down a notch or 3. Put him on a rig for a week. He needs some humbling.
I know I am rehashing what a lot of people know but I feel a need to say it. I did not listen this interview and don't really have to. The National Media is stunned. Period. They are at a loss. The "big boys" simply hate the fact that someone saw Arkansas as a better job than Wisconsin. They certainly don't see it ,except for maybe a few SEC writers. It ticks them off that he devalued the Rose Bowl. They kept posting ridiculous stuff early on like "Bielema wants to coach Rose Bowl", yeah whatever. I am not really a Big 10 hater but it tickles me to death to listen to the dumba$$ spin Herbstreet and the others try to put on this. It was not about money, it was not about being a Leader or a Legend. It is about a man putting himself in the best position to win. Arkansas is simply a better job and they just will not/cannot accept it.

We must have been reading different articles bc most on ESPN that I've seen talked about how great of a hire it was and they only questioned the fit bc of recruiting ties.
I wonder how Petrino would have handled that? He would have probably never done the interview is my guess. Not insinutating anything just speculating. DP was just feeling sorry for his boy Alverez.
lol I was thinking the same, let some of my operators have him for 24 hours. It seems Mr Patrick is a little out fo touch with what its like to be a working stiff. Life is not just loyalty to a supervisor, there are a lot of different loyalties that tug at you.
I am not talking about how good a hire they see it for Arkansas. The whole "fit" thing is just a nice way to say "Why did he leave Wisconsin for Arkansas". That is how I read it anyway.
