  • Bielema did more than just stop in at David's Burgers last night.

A family friend of ours has been in ICU at Baptist since New Year's Day due to complications from pneumonia. It's been to the point where it looked for a while like he wouldn't recover.

Yesterday my wife tweeted to and emailed Coach Bielema asking if he would send an autographed picture to our friend with his "1-0" message for encouragement. To make a long story short, about 9pm last night our friend's wife called my wife to say that Coach Bielema was at the hospital visiting with her husband. Not only did he take time out of his busy schedule to visit, but he initially went to Baptist in NLR by mistake, and still took the time to find the right hospital and spend some time with a family who really needed a lift.

With the way Nutt's tenure turned out I vowed never to get personally attached to any Hog coach again. It would all be based on record for me - if they win I'm a fan of the coach, if not, time for him to move on. With actions like this it's going to be awfully hard to take that attitude with Coach Bielema, although I suspect he is going to win enough to make it a moot point anyway.

    Hey.

This is awesome do you mind if I share this story? It's just an awesome story and someone that gas spent time in the hospital with my kidney disease and a transplant I think it's freaking awesome

Wow. That is great jester by Coach Bielema. It is always great to hear about high-profile people doing these kinds of things, and even better when it our very own head football coach!

I wish that things like this would more publicity, even though that is not the main point of the action. If things like this got covered like how CBB's twitterings I would be happy. I just think that is sad that people can do something like this and it gets largely over-looked, expect for in a small circles like here, but when they do something, like the tweets, it gets national attention. I seriously doubt this ever gets one article written about it, but again, that media exposure isn't the purpose of the visit. It's great to know we have someone like that as our Coach.

  • This program is going to be just fine no matter what happens on NSD. This Coach is a winner on the field and obviously in life. Love the story and what a statement it makes about the direction we are heading.
