Great write-up! But none of these coaches records just jump out at me. Im just really worried about this coaching hire! I want somebody that has been coaching somewhere for awhile that has an awesome record! Dont know who that is but guys with a 55-57 record (just an example) dont get me excited about taking this program back to where we need to be....who knows anymore though! Im just so down about this football program rite now nothing sounds good other than hiring a BIG name coach with an awesome proven record.

I'm not convinced that Paul Rhoades isn't one of the best "new" coaches in the country.
Winning record at Iowa State is impressive, IMO.

Agreed. Some people look to much at records sometimes and not at the overall situation.
Petrino was 13-12 after his first two seasons at Arkansas. Someone just glancing at records wouldn't have been impressed unless the understood the overall situation.

I agree. And he's got a great reputation in coaching circles. Tough games ahead, though. Unfortunately for Iowa State, its open date is next week. After Texas Tech, they play TCU, K-State, Oklahoma State, Baylor, Oklahoma and Texas. Finish up with Kansas and West Virginia. Five of those nine teams are currently ranked in the Top 25. And Baylor and Okla. St. might be in the Top 25 by the time they play them

I hope OK was right and their are names that can't be put on this Hotboard out their that we are after. If not then Briles and Mora would be my tops on that list. Followed by Roman and McDaniels. Mora Jr. would really excite 'ol HH :)

No to ALL the above. If we want to be a "big time" program, lets hire a big time name. Not someone that might be a big time name in the future, but one now. If not, hell, Long should have just docked petrino's pay, placed him on probation, suspended him for a few games, whatever. But geez, can you see any "big name" school hiring any on these dudes? Some don't even have HC experience, and others like Butch Davis are just looking for a "retirement gig". And some of these guys.... good night man, why dont we just hire Nutt back? No, I'm not a Nutt fan, but dang. Some of these guys records are barely avereage, much less good.

I have never linked anything over here so not gonna attempt it lol. But I found this interview with Jim Mora following Saturday's game vs. Houston. I was really impressed and hope we can lure him away with money, facilities and the SEC even tho he seems to have things rolling with the Bruins.

Malzahn burned his bridges when he left Arkansas the first time. Some Hog fans love him; some hate him. A hire like that would divide the fanbase once again. It reminds me of Houston Nutt's last couple of seasons here. Some wanted him to stay; others wanted him gone ASAP.
Plus, Malzahn is now at ASU. He's doing all he can to be a douchebag and make the University of Arkansas look bad with the in-state high school coaches. I hope he and the tards at ASU never win another game. I'm probably in the minority on here when it comes to HATING ASU with passion.
