North Little Rock 4-star running back Altee Tenpenny participated in Saturday's FCA Combine. Come inside to find out if Tenpenny is still considering Arkansas.

Still taking visits = door is still open.

    Pretty straight forward.

  • sorry, maybe I misunderstood the words " I am solid to Alabama" .... Everyone takes visits, no news here (g)!

You didn't misunderstand anything. I personally feel he will go to Bama, and that is where he really wants to be. However, some 17-18 year olds change their minds as often as their socks. Him continuing to take visits DOES crack the door whether you want to admit it or not.

Again, I think he will sign with Bama, but who knows what will happen in 8 months.

  • Well in that case the door is open for any player until he signs, I believe that what he said indicated he is solid though, there was nothing there that said Arkansas had anymore of a chance than anywhere else.

....Anywhere else that happens to get one of those visits.

Arkansas will have the best shot of anyone else because he is in the center of this state. Everyone he talks to for the next 8 months will tell him they want him to be a Hog.

Like I said, I expect him to sign with Bama.

  • Altee will not sign with Arkansas and I for one will not lose any sleep over it. I like the upside and potential of Kaleb Blanchard a lot more and am confident we will land another stud back in this class. Hunter Henry is the one we must get not Tenpenny.

I think you are right...he will sign with Bama.

Also, under Bobby Petrino I agree with you that Hunter is the "must get" recruit. However, since BP is gone, and there is a very good chance that the Hogs will have a new system in place in 12 months, I think Altee's value to this class is a bit of an unknown. If Arkansas hires a pass first coach, then the need for a RB the calibur of Altee could drop somewhat. If a run-first coach is hired, the need for a kid like Altee would increase.

Overall, I agree the skill-set of Hunter Henry is impressive...and more rare than that of a RB....even a very good back such as Altee. Nonetheless, With the dismissal of Bobby Petrino, I don't think this scenario is quite as "cut and dried" as it was 2 months ago.

Too many unknowns for me to wrap my mind around at this point...

  • I remember UcheaT and UF stealing top talent out of Alabama every year and it was not fun. Having the opposing fans gloating about it makes it worse. If you all were TN I would but you all have an honorable program and decent fans so I won't.

I'm shocked that Petrino would screw up such a good thing. (25 years ago no one would have heard about his antics and he'd probably still be your coach) The success he had with middle of the pack recruiting was astounding. Kind of odd when you think about Louisville being resurrected by Howard Schnellenberger just like Miami was in the early 80's only to be succeeded by John L Smith who really got Louisville on the national map. Flame out at MSU aside maybe he can get it done at Ark.

    Good points as always jaboyd!

  • I will say this about Tenpenny. He has handled himself with a lot of class so far. We have seen several of the in state kids who go out of state really be negative and attention seeking. This kid has been first class so far. I hope he keeps it up. It speaks volumes for his character.

Not sure if you have trouble reading or what, but I was very neutral in the story and only reported what he said. If I really wanted to be a horse's butt I could go in admin and change him to a soft commit because he is going to take other visits. The kid said he was going to take other visits but is solid to Alabama. I quoted him on both.

    Otis Kirk

  • I was trying to give you a hard time man, just joking around, if you changed him to a soft commitment because he is taking other visits I think you could probably do the same to 75% of the commitments in the 247. I'm pretty confident from everything I have read and heard that he sticks with Alabama, good reporting

Arkansas is already heavy passing offense. And they have an elite back already...Davis. I don't see how anything changes...IMO.

If Davis has a good year, then he will be gone. We also have two SR RB's.
