Arkansas Coach Bret Bielema wasted little time in getting his first commitment at Arkansas and it's a familiar name.
Tiquention Coleman is Arkansas' first commitment for Bret Bielema.
Georgia Military 3-star Safety Tiquention Coleman was originally committed to Bielema at Wisconsin, but on Wednesday he switched his commitment to the Razorbacks. Coleman is currently at Arkansas on an official visit.
“I committed to Arkansas about an hour ago,” Coleman said. “I committed to Arkansas for a lot of the same reasons I committed to Wisconsin.
“The academics are good at Arkansas and I wanted to play for a future legendary coach in Coach Bielema. He told me I was the only commitment at Wisconsin he was going to recruit so I took the offer.”
As a sophomore, Coleman, who is from Mauldin (S.C.) had 44 tackles, four interceptions, two pass breakups, one forced fumble and two recovered fumbles.
“I can come in and contribute here I think even quicker than I could have at Wisconsin,” Coleman said. “It has always been a dream of mine to play in the SEC. Not many athletes get a chance to play in the SEC and when you do you have to run with it.”
Coleman and teammate, outside linebacker Neville Hewitt, were taken to the Catfish Hole on Tuesday night. Coleman said that was an unbelievable experience for him.
“Everyone knew who I was,” Coleman said. “I kind of felt like a celebrity. It was amazing. I loved it there and that's part of the reason I'm coming to Arkansas.”
Coleman said Arkansas hasn't offered Hewitt at this time, but hopes that changes soon.
“They told him they only plan to sign two junior college linebackers,” Coleman said. “They are going to visit one who is committed soon and it may depend on what he does.”
Coleman has a grade of 82 with 247Sports who also rates him the No. 145 junior college recruit in the nation, No. 8 safety and No. 6 junior college recruit in Georgia.
