Arkansas Coach Bobby Petrino was injured in a motorcycle accident outside Fayetteville on Sunday evening and was taken to a Fayetteville hospital, according to Arkansas State Police spokesman Bill Sadler.
The severity of Arkansas Coach Bobby Petrino's injury or injuries has not been made public.
“Yes, at 6:45 last evening, state police were notified of a single motorcycle crash in Madison County on Highway 16 near the Crosses community,” Sadler said, confirming that Petrino was operating the motorcycle.
“He was transported to a Fayetteville hospital.”
The severity of Petrino’s injury or injuries has not been made public. There has been no announcement from the UA regarding the accident.
Crosses is located about 20 miles southeast of Fayetteville.

9:15 A.M. UPDATE
The UA issued a statement from Petrino's family at about 9:45 a.m.
“Coach Petrino was involved in a motorcycle accident on Sunday evening that involved no other individuals," the statement said. "He is in stable condition and is expected to make a full recovery. Our family appreciates respect for our privacy during the recovery and we are grateful for the thoughts of Razorback fans at this time.”
Arkansas Athletic Director Jeff Long said he has been in touch with the Petrinos. Long said he will consult with the family to provide additional information at a later time.
"Until then, there will be no further information or comment on the accident per the Petrinos’ request," the UA said in the statement.
4:45 P.M. UPDATE
The UA issued another statement in which Long said he visited with Petrino and Petrino's wife, Becky, at the hospital. Long said Petrino is "resting comfortably and is encouraged by the progress of his recovery."
"I know that he is very much looking forward to returning to spring practice at the earliest opportunity," Long said in the statement. "In the course of our visit, the Petrinos expressed their appreciation for all the thoughts and well wishes that have come in from all over the country. I am confident that everyone in the Razorback Nation is united in wishing Coach Petrino a speedy recovery.”
