Arkansas Coaching Search: 2-4-7

More of the same old conjecture.

This coaching search is getting old with me! This is probably the way Ohio State fans felt waiting nearly a year before a new coach was announced. All the speculation and rumors are starting to drive me nuts! At this point and the way the season has gone, I'll almost settle for Gus. I just wanna compete!

Strong made some tough comments yesterday about how he wasn't the kind of guy to bail on Louisville and I believe him for some reason.
I think Strong needs a few more years of success before taking a crack at the SEC. anyway

Just so I can explain this article. I have nothing to do with the coaching hot board. That is Robert's work. He puts his own thinking on each of them and in his stories he talks about what kind of chance to Gruden, Butch etc. And by the way Mora isn't on the hot board because I like him as one poster said, I have nothing to do with who Robert puts on there.
So I decided to write a story and break them down into levels as I think they should be in. That was what this was about. yes, much of it is the same info and for the most part it will remain that way thru the rest of the season though it does change some from week to week depending on who wins and loses. But i figured some might like to see kind of the tiers I put the coaches in that I think are top of the list right now. Nothing breaking in the story, it does kind of break coaches down into the tiers as I see them. Thanks for your business on the board, we appreciate you.

Thanks..I know you are on top of this and appreciate you. This really is a critical hire and can make the difference in Arkansas' future as a football power, much more important than the Petrino hire. Petrino gave us all a taste of what it could be, but I agree with you that his time here may have been running out because of his lack of ability to recruit and seal the deal. I remember the weekend when all of the 4 and 5 star players were here for an official visit and he couldn't seal the deal with a number that were needed. Another coach with recruiting skills would have been drooling to have them on campus and would have had several commitments from that group...IMHO.

Otis, Have you considered Josh McDaniels of NE Pats? Coach Belichick did hire him twice to run his offense.

I come in peace, I'm a Louisville fan and its just wired seeing another team go through (PPD) post petrino depression. Trust me it sucks because he can make you forgot where you came from quick, it's not easy finding a coach to follow petrino the next hire is critical for your program before Strong our AD hired Steve kragthorp who tanked a team coming off a 1 lose season and a orange bowl victory nd we're just now getting traction back. Trust me it was only a matter of time before petrino f'd up if he ditched the NFL then no team in the NCAA was safe, if he where at USC or Norte Dame he would be waiting for the Patriots to call. Yeah I know. I was so stupid five years ago I said Arkansas was going to hire Bobby Petrino and we all know how stupid it was for me to say that. Arkansas had no chance at him. What a fool I was to write that. The others were saying Tommy Tuberville and names like that, I was a pure idiot for even mentioning Petrino back then.

I personally think there are about 5-6 names on that board that Arkansas has a realistic shot at. However, those are all the names floating around right now. It makes sense to include them with comments, just as Otis did.
