Alex Collins made his decision on Monday night ending a long recruiting battle.
Bret Bielema promised when hired at Arkansas that he could recruit south Florida with success and on Monday night he gained a commitment from Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) South Plantation 5-star running back Alex Collins.
Collins chose the Razorbacks over Miami, Florida State, Florida and Wisconsin. Collins announced his decision on Fox Sports South.
“This is what I've been waiting for,” Collins said. “I will like to continue my athletic and academic career at the University of Arkansas.”
As a senior, Collins rushed for1,275 yards and 14 touchdowns on 155 carries. That followed a junior season that saw him rush for 1,640 yards and 24 touchdowns on 221 carries.
“Every school had something to offer,” Collins said. “I like the fact they run the ball. I am familiar with the coaching staff there. I can trust them.”
Collins is the 21st commitment for the Razorbacks. He has a grade of 99 with 247Sports, the No. 17 player in the nation, No. 1 running back and No. 5 recruit in Florida.
